From the moment I held my squirming little baby boy in my arms I knew my life would never be the same. Â I also knew that the 30 head of cattle would come in handy as he grew up. Â Did you know boys are born with bottomless pits? Â It’s a proven fact.
A great way to fill those caverns is with meat. Â These Baby Bleu Cheese Burgers have beef, bacon, bleu cheese, and caramelized onions in one teensy little bite. Â While they are great for dinner they also make a great appetizer for, oh, let’s say, a baby shower. Â For a boy.
When I learned that my friend and fellow blogger, Rachel, found out she was expecting a baby boy I was so excited for her! Â Each of my boys holds a special place in my heart and there is just nothing like having a son.
And since I’m quite experienced in the whole boy raising arena I thought I’d share a few tips I’ve learned along the way.
First and foremost, you are gonna get peed on. Â It’s a fact of life. Â No way around it. Â You can try those teepee things if you really want to but just don’t. Â Open the new diaper, grab the wipes out, then change the old diaper with lightening fast speed, ducking and weaving if needs be.
Your son’s first word, most likely, will have something to do with your husband’s favorite sport, video game, and/or hobby. Â ”googoogoo angry birds.” Â Atta boy.
Be prepared to hear, “It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Â A lot. Â Like after they try swinging from the moving ceiling fan by hooking it with their blanket.
Your son will be out eating both you and your husband by the time he is six. Â Don’t worry, it’s normal. Â Look into a second mortgage now while rates are low.
Lastly, from the moment your son is born you will understand a mother’s love for her son. Â It is uniquely special. Â And while E may have daddy wrapped around her little finger, your son will have you in the same position.
Join me and my fellow bloggers to congratulate Rachel on her bundle of blue that will be arriving in a few short weeks. Â May they go by quickly. Â Here is the menu we are serving during our virtual baby shower…I hope you’re hungry! Â Now, if only someone would invent taste-o-vision.

Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 6 strips of thick cut bacon, diced
- 6 oz crumbled bleu cheese
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 baguette
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Frank's Hot Sauce
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions, season with salt and pepper, and continue to cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until translucent.
- Lower heat to medium low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl mix together the ground beef and diced bacon. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Form the hamburger and bacon mixture into small patties by scooping a heaping tablespoon of meat, pressing into a ball, flatten slightly and use your thumb to place an indentation in the middle of the circle. Place a few crumbles of bleu cheese in that indentation, cover with meat, and press to seal. Slightly flatten then place in the preheated skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes, flip and repeat.
- Slice the baguette into 1/4" slices, spread onto a baking sheet, and toast under the broiler for 1 minute.
- In a small bowl mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, and hot sauce.
- Top one slice of baguette with a patty, spread with a spoonful of sauce, top with some caramelized onions and another toasted baguette slice. Repeat until all the sliders are done.
- Serve immediately.
