Cantina Steak Burrito

Cantina Steak Burrito

If there is one thing in life that is always predictable it is that life is, in fact, never predictable.  Take, for example, the last five weeks of my life.  We’ve had the typical busyness that a family of our size expects as well as some additional stress.

Stress comes with being an adult I suppose.  You can eat cake for breakfast but then you have to deal with adult issues.  Illness, bills, family.  Family happens to be the issue du jour.  It’s been difficult for me to live so far away from them lately where I am unable to care for ailing family members.  So, last week mr and I made the decision to take the kids out of school for a week to drive to California so they could spend time with my side of the family.

We’ve driven the route from Utah to California so many times that we have a pretty good routine going.  The only thing that changes is where we stop for food.  It usually depends on what I’m craving and what time of day it is but mostly what I’m craving.  Growing up in California I guess you could say I’m a bit of a Mexican food addict.  I could eat it every day with nary a complaint.

During a long distance drive, like the one we were tackling, the quicker it’s over the fewer complaints we get from the kiddos.  Drive thru is our friend.  Sometimes we let the kids pick but lots of times I get to pick.  You can probably guess what my little taste buds were whispering.  The same thing they are always whispering.  Burrito.  Taco.  Enchilada.

It’s best to just heed those whisperings or they get stronger and even more annoying.  So we headed to Taco Bell to try the new Cantina Steak Burrito.  Honest opinion…it was really good.  The ingredients were fresh and the flavors complimented each other nicely.  My taste buds were happy.  Next time I’ll opt for chicken or veggie since beef makes a regular appearance on our menu at home.

Whichever you choose you can expect it to be a big burrito filled with rice, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, roasted corn & pepper salsa and a creamy cilantro dressing, all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.  Sounds like something I would have made at home if not for the fact that I was no where near my home.  Kinda nice how that works out.

As I find myself constantly short on time but never out of the chaos that makes life so unpredictable I suspect I’ll be depending on fast food for a bit.  I can honestly say I’ve got the Cantina menu at Taco Bell highlighted.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Taco Bell.  See how great our steak is when you try the new Cantina Steak Burrito. Because when it comes to a great steak burrito, it’s all about the steak.  Opinions, stories, and experiences are all my own.
