I did something today that I reeeeaaaally don’t like doing.
In fact, I would rather do laundry than do this chore and I REALLY don’t like doing laundry. Unless I am avoiding doing another job at which point laundry becomes my favorite thing to do because I can sit and watch my favorite show while feeling productive.
I have a love/hate relationship with laundry apparently.
So, this thing I did? The yuckiest rooms in the house. The bathrooms. Ewwww.
In case you haven’t heard, I have 4 boys. 2 of which are potty trained {but aren’t exactly snipers when it comes to aim} and 1 that is potty training {kinda}. It’s not a leap to see why this is not my favorite chore. Although, who really enjoys cleaning the bathroom?!?
Despite the fact that it needed to get done a little bribery can’t hurt. You’ve heard of the carrot dangling on a stick? Meet a weapon even more powerful than a carrot.
Heeelllloooooo nurse.
It didn’t take long for those bathrooms to get done. I think it was my fastest time ever.
{P.S.} I apologize for the fact that it appears to be potty talk week here on BGM. It was completely unintentional and I am well aware that talking about toilets and doughnuts doesn’t exactly make one swoon. I’ll work on some more riveting content for the next post.
Adapted from Wilton's Basic Doughnut Recipe

- 1/3 cup + 1 tblsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tblsp butter, melted
- 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tblsp butter

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°. Spray doughnut pan with cooking spray.
- In a medium mixing bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate small bowl mix the milk, egg, and butter. Add it to the sifted dry ingredients and stir until combined.
- Pipe or scoop into the doughnut pan until each cavity is about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and turn out onto a cooling rack.
- In a microwave safe bowl heat the chocolate chips, butter, and corn syrup at 50% for 1 minute. Stir until smooth.
- Pour a spoonful over each doughnut. Garnish with sprinkles, if desired. Allow to cool and serve.

yummy!
haha! You crack me up! (and you make me not want to have boys…)
Yeah…I can’t wait until they are old enough to clean it themselves! That day will come. I also need to start training them to put the seat down or their future wives are gonna kill me. In a household of 5:1, boys, I lose.
Hey donuts are shaped like a toilet seat! So I see how they could go together!
Hmmm, I never thought of that! Although these I would definitely not sit on. Gross.
I hate doing bathrooms. Or any cleaning really. But especially bathrooms. Doughnuts would make me move faster too!
I just hope they got thoroughly clean. With these doughnuts tempting me I may have moved a bit too quick.
I enjoyed all the potty talk! And having 4 boys must be a handful!
On the other hand, gorgeous donuts. I love that you’re using cake flour for this!
They were so good! I can’t wait to start experimenting with the recipe.
Well those just look irresistable! I would clean your toilets for one of those!
It’s a deal! You wash…I’ll dry
I have to agree with you I hate that bathroom chore more than anything, laundry is a close 2nd. But these donuts could talk me into a lot
They look wonderful.
Thanks Suzanne! I finally caved and bought the doughnut pan and couldn’t wait to put it to good use. Of course I felt I should do a little work to earn one.
Bathrooms – yuck. Donuts – yum!!!
Agree whole heartedly!
Every time I see a new recipe for donuts I say “man I need a donut pan!” Really kicking myself for not owning one yet… As for the bathrooms. I’m with you on that one. Least favorite job. I have 2 boys and a husband who still can’t lift the seat to pee. *Gross*
I hate it when they do that! As for the doughnut pan…I am so happy I finally bought one. I’d been putting off and putting it off since it wasn’t “necessary”. Then I realized that if I was going to keep cleaning toilets than the doughnut pan was all too necessary!
