There is just something about a nice juicy burger.
And I’m not just saying that because we raise beef.
When the warm weather blasts into town mr can’t wait to fire up the grill. Neither can I but for completely different reasons. One, less dishes. Two, he’s cookin’ dinner (kinda). Three, don’t take this the wrong way but, I totally love the smell that wafts into neighbors yards that leaves them craving BBQ.
That’s mean.
I know it is but I would totally share so that doesn’t make it as mean, right!?
With that said a plain burger is only good so many times before it gets, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, boring.
We love mixing things up and this Teriyaki Burger with it’s grilled pineapple, oozing sauce, and juicy patty is a favorite. Just make sure you have a stack of napkins nearby. It can get a little messy.
After a few failed experiments I found this perfect recipe for teriyaki sauce on Recipe Zaar.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 5 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 4 slices of jack cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 pineapple rings
- 4 slices of red onions
- 4 slices of tomato
- 4 leaves of romaine
Instructions
- In a medium size pot whisk together the soy sauce, water, ginger, garlic powder, brown sugar, and honey. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- In another bowl dissolve the corn starch in the extra 1/4 cup water. Stir this mixture into the soy sauce mixture. Cook over low heat until thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool before serving with burgers.
- Preheat grill over medium heat.
- Form the beef into 4 equal size patties. Cook until they reach the desired doneness. Top with cheese immediately.
- Spray the pineapple rings with cooking spray and place on the grill. Grill for a minute until grill marks appear.
- Assemble burgers with one bun, one patty, one onion ring, one tomato slice, 2 slices of pineapple, lettuce, and 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce.
Notes
For my family of 6 I can get a full six burgers from 1 pound of beef. You will have leftover teriyaki sauce but you can store it in the fridge to use on sandwiches or grilled meat or vegetables.

Thanks for another great burger idea! Grilling time is here…though in South Florida where I live, it’s always grilling time.
You’re very fortunate to have your own beef! A good friend of mine is trying her hand at raising beef. They already had cattle, but are now delving into the grass fed arena. She has some meat for me to sample, and I can’t wait!!
That’s great Denise! You are in for a real treat, I’m sure!
Yum! (minus the grilled pineapple…seriously, what’s wrong with me?) I love a good hamburger, and making the neighbors jealous…perfect!
WHAT!? No pineapple!!!? Okay, we can’t be friends anymore.
This made me really hungry! We can do this on hotdogs as well right? I might as well try this at home!
Thanks for sharing!

Hot dogs!? Most definitely Gabe! These are some of my favorite flavors.
I love it when the neighbor’s grill, even if I’m not hungry! It’s like getting to cookout without having to do any of the work!
I am a HUGE (no seriously, HUGE) teriyaki pineapple burger gal so I am just dying over this recipe. I never really thought to make it right at home but since you have this wonderful recipe here, would it be wrong to make this every day?
Yum! I am loving anything teriyaki right now!
I’ve tried a few of your recipes and they are delicious. Do you have any recipes for cold sandwiches, that I can take to work? It would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much Katie! You know, I don’t have any cold sandwiches but I should really change that! As far as lunch goes, I do love a classic turkey sandwich but perhaps I’ll start playing around with flavors to add to that. In fact, I’m thinking of one right now that I think would be awesome…I’ll keep you posted!
