“The Works” Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Who says being a stay at home mom isn’t glamorous!?

Say hello to Glamomorous Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Too much?  I kinda got swept up in the moment while I was eating it.

I just let the crisp bread, melty cheese, and slight spice whisk me away from the laundry that I was folding that day.  I love me a grilled cheese sandwich and when it is stacked a mile high with stuff…well, I just can’t resist.

There are often more days than not that I’m grabbing a quick PB & J or heating up leftovers {yes, even stay-at-home moms have to eat on the run}.  When I have the chance to whip up something like this it’s a real treat.

The best part is it doesn’t even take that long so I really should be doing it more often.

Really.  I should.  I need to.

Glamomorous Grilled Cheese

Yield: Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 2 oz jack cheese
  • 1 tblsp Blackberry Buzz Preserves or blackberry/pepper jam
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 2 thin slices of red onion
  • 2 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 tblsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Spread 1/2 tblsp butter onto one side of each piece of bread.
  2. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Place a piece of bread, butter side down, in the skillet. Spread the jam over the top of that piece of bread. Top with the avocado slices, cheese, onion, and bacon.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Top with the last piece of bread, butter side up, and cook until lightly browned. Flip carefully and repeat until the second side is browned and crispy.
  6. Cut and serve immediately.

You can’t go wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich. Any toppings you like, personally I go for dill pickle slices and onion and while eating I dip it in mustard. Avocado I love but have never put on a grilled cheese. Hmmm. I am really going for that pepper jam, yum.

That looks very very glamourous to me! I wish you could of come on over to my place this week and made that since we were all sick. I’m sure we would of gotten better a lot faster :)
